Default Laid Off, Called Back, Big Cut In Pay

Hi all, I just found this forum after not being happy with my job.
I'm sorry but I did'nt know how to explain my situation and shorter.
I was laid off the 1st of this year. I'm 'job attached' but really is'nt necessary because I'm in road construction and calling a few companies a week in the winter would'nt be a big deal, but no body hires new people in the winter.
I've worked for this company for over 10 years now and have been on salary for the past 6 or 7. I was the only salaried person in the company that is not family. 2 brothers own the company and the other job superintendent is married to the owners sister.
So my boss calls me up and says he has a little job and wants me to do it and says he'll pay me by the hour.
Well, I did it and it lasted 2 days and now he thinks he has something for Mon. I don't even know how much he's planning to pay me and I have to call in for my UC benefts Sun.
I kinda feel he is giving me shaft and just wants me to be there when he needs me. If he pays me just enough to mess up my UC claim, do I have to accept this work since our previous agreement was full time salary?
I also have other questions regarding UC if I take another job, but if I can't find a salary job, it is tradition to get laid off for a couple of months in the winter and , if he can he would try to stop me from getting UC next year.
Something about this just seem wrong.
I'm in Colorado and the housing market has hurt our industry a lot.
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions

UI does not usually care about prior salary arrangements.

If you're offered work and you turn it down for any reason other than you're not qualified to do the work, you stand to lose your benefits.

State laws can vary widely. I know that in my home state UI policy is that you do not have to accept work that is not substantially within your normal field of work or with pay under approximately 80% of your prior rate or more than 50 miles from your residence(provided your prior employment was within that distance).

Check with your state UI office and don't be afraid to ask questions.

I guess I'll have to accept it for the time being. Altho I think I could win to keep my UC for awhile.
I never thought I'd get or accept a cut in pay but times are tough for everybody and especially an industry that depends on housing construction.
