Most "J1 and marriage to US citizen" related questions deal with how to waive a home requirement.
Here's a different question:
Does marriage to a US citizen while on J1 endanger the continuation of training?
J1 holders in training programs requiring yearly renewals (a common scenario is the yearly renewed sponsorhsip by ECFMG of International Medical Graduates) need to re-apply every year for J1 sponsorship continuation and for an actual visa stamp if they travel outside of the US.
If a J1 holder gets married (to a US citizen) during the period of continued sponsorhip, does it change or endanger
1. the eligibilty to continue the training under continued J1?
2. the likelihood of obtaining a visa stamp to re-enter the US if he/she travels abroad?
Again, to make it clear: this question came up in J1 holders independently from any future intentions to waive or fullfill home requirements or file for Green Card.
Any idea? Maybe it's not an issue at all, yet I don't know an answer. Anyone?
