    Default NICS Delay, Texas

    Hi Folks,
I had an interesting weekend, went to pick up a pistol I ordered online at local ffl. I got the delay. This was Saturday 3pm.
Since then I have been trying to figure out what could have caused this delay.
Things that could be on my "record": in 2000 I was detained by Austin TX PD when getting off an airplane. In a nutshell my checkbook was stolen about 3 years prior and despite filling out fraud reports with the bank, etc I had an arrest warrent out. That was all cleared up about 8 months into 2000. Not guilty, etc. Only other thing I can think of that would pop up. In austin 2001 my wife (at the time) was looking for a good reason to keep me away for a few days, she called the police and said she was afraid for my life. APD came and asked if I wanted to go willingly to a facility for a psych eval. Not knowing my rights at the time, I agreed to go, fearing that NOT agreeing would land me in trouble. I was released the next morning after speaking with a Dr. No legal papers, no judge, Only the ride there fron a cop.
Can anyone tell me if these things would Flag NICS to delay me.
I imagine you all know what a Delay feels like. I feel like come kind of criminal. To make it worse my parents (dad is a cop) were here for easter weekend. We all went to the store (where my ffl works) to pick up my new pistol. So it was a bit humilitaing to hear the Delay in front of the entire family.
What is the numebr of Delay vs. Deny come up. Or, how many Delay's go through to a proceed status. My ssn was on the form, and my name is not common, but is fairly easy to tell I am from here, USA.
I was born in Ill, and now live in Texas. I have moved several times since 1998 but all moves have been within Texas. If you can't tell I am pulling my hair out on this issue....Help!

My best guess would be that the delay was triggered by the domestic violence report and psychiatric detention. All I can do, though, is guess.

to follow up, I was cleared/approved monday afternoon.
Also there was no domestic violence "charge" my x thought I was going to hurt myself not her. It was a lie to get me out of the house so she could be with her boyfriend. Which then led to my voulentary psych eval.
Anyhow, Just in case anyone go's through the NICS process and they are a child of a police officer. I found out any child of a police officer has Sealed personal records. I am 31 now and they are still sealed. Basically when the NICS check is done the first person to answer the phone has limited security rights, if there is a flag on your file it go's to a Delay status. It then go's to another operator who does have clearance to open the file.
To sumrise any flag, being a sealed record, or an offending mark on a persons record puts the NICS check in Delay. The check on me was done on a Saturday...weekends at the FBI have limited staff in the NICS dept.
If you are sure you are not in violation of any of the laws/limitations on the form relax, you should be ok.
