    Default Biological Fathers Rights

My boyfriend has a child with someone who wants him to give up his rights so her and her husband can adopt him. For the first year and a half of this childs life his biological father took care of him. A turn of events happened and he went overseas on a tour of duty, upon returning about 2 years later he found out the mother got married and the husband now wants to adopt his son. Since the child has been alive his biological father has paid support for him. He was pretty much shoved out of his sons life since returning to the states and has not had contact with his child. The biological father was told that he was not on the birth certificate but was on some other paper filed in the hospital and he has had a paternity test done. What would his rights be if he doesn't want to fully let his son go and allow his mother and step-father to have full legal rights to him. He wants to know his child is being taken care of and wants the child to know he has nothing to worry about later in life and that he (the child) has a biological father if he ever needs him. What would be the best/right thing to do. Please help this is so exhausting!

    Default Re: Biological Fathers Rights

If he wants to be a part of the child's life, tell him to not agree to the adoption and file for joint custody as well as visitation.

If he does agree to the adoption, the mother has no obligation to tell him anything else that is going on in the child's life or to let him see him.
