I purchased a plot of land from a neighbor and proceeded to build a home on it. I had all the inspections done as I was putting in the foundation, and everything was okayed by the inspectors. (this was more than a year ago) I have been halted on my work on my new home (which has walls and a roof now.) as my neighbor decided to complain. He claims that the front corner of my home is 4 feet away, but the back corner is 9 inches too close to his property line. (zoning laws salt lake county, utah state the home should be 4 feet from the property line) He is now demanding that I buy his home for an outrageous amount of money in order for him to stop his complaints against me. I can't afford to pick up and move, and I can't sell because the home isn't even done. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I do have legal counsel... but all he has said so far is make sure that I don't say anything negative about the guy.
