We live in Florida. My son has my ex-husband's last name and hates it because he is teased a lot at school. He is 14. I have re-married a man who has two children of his own. My son wants to change his name to match his step-father and be the same as the rest of our family. My ex-husband pays child support regularly and does spend time with him. Is there a way my son could legally change his name even though his bio-father is active in his life without him giving up his legal rights and child support obiligations? We think his bio-father would consent to the name change as long as he didn't have to give up any legal rights.
