We are looking to buy a house. My landlord said that breaking the lease would cost 2,000 dollars. In the lease, the only thing it says about breaking a lease is this:
"I/we agree that I/we signed a 12 month lease. It is understood that if the lease is not completed for the full term of 12 months, I/we will be charged $360 for the concessions indicated on the Charged Assessment Details, along with any other monies owed."
I see nothing in the lease about 2,000 dollars. We are willing to pay the 360 but not 2,000. Do they have a right to collect that much if it's not in the contract? Any help would be appreciated.
