Living in Florida...
We rented a home for a short term...4 months. The home was listed for sale or lease, and we opted to lease it and possibly purchase it later. There was a clause in the lease stating that if we were going to make a longer term commitment to the home, we would do so within the first 30 days. Since the home was also for sale, we did not feel comfortable with the home being able to be shown whenever...so we asked that the lease included a clause that said the home would not be shown for purchase until 30 days prior to the completion of our lease, if we choose not to extend the lease or purchase the home. We have decided not to move forward with purchasing the home and told the landlord, now he tells us that he will be showing the home for sale or lease whenever he wants because of the Landlord Tenant act. I do not think he can just make a change to a clause in the lease because we decided not to exercise our option to make a longer arrangement to purchase or lease the home...it was not a commitment, but an option. His showing was a commitment and not based on anything else. Can he do that?
