    Default OAG Garnishments

To make a long story short, I have not received any support from the NCP since last April. I also have not talked to him since last August. But that is not what I am asking about. I randomly received a call today from the disbursement department (I am assuming from the Attorney General's office) telling me that they had checks for me but did not have my correct address. I am extremely confused because I filed the paperwork to have the garnishments stopped in October because the OAG said that they could not locate him. When I stopped the garnishments there was a balance that the owed me. Would they go back after that? I am confused because I thought that as soon as the garnishments were stopped they did not take anymore actions against them. I'm in Texas, by the way.

If they have money for you, give them your address so that they can send it to you. If you want to know why they have money for you despite your stopping garnishments, ask them.

    Default Just Plain Confused

I am extremely confused right now. I recently received a call from the child support disbursement office (which I didnt even know existed) that I had two checks waiting for me. Prior to this, I had not received anything since May 7, 2007. I tried to contact the OAG and they said that my case was closed. I called my county clerks office, and they said the case was open but it had been moved to a private court. I did not move it. I discontinued the garnishments, but I was told that my case was still being monitored by the state. The very nice lady at the county clerks office explained that the NCP had probably hired a lawyer to get things straightened out. Now, here is where I have the problem. I have no idea where this man is since I have not been contacted by him since August of last year, and prior to that I had not been contacted since April of 2007. I did have a number, but it has been disconnected. How can he move a case that I opened to private court without my knowledge? Shouldn't I have been served with something? Do I need to get a lawyer to straighten this out? No one in my county or the OAG can answer any of my questions. They also told me that the checks came from his employer, but if that's the case, where are the checks for the 10 months before that? This is in Texas.

I stopped the garnishments because they told me that they could not find him anyways, and I got tired of dealing with the OAG. And, by the way, most women do not want their ex's burned at the stake. Most women want what is best for their children, and a father that comes and goes as he pleases is not healthy, no matter how you slice it.

Call them back and ask them where the money came from.
