    Unhappy Step-Parent Adoption In Florida

my husband wants to adopt my 10 year old daughter. he has been a father to her since birth. the biological father and I were never married,we only dated for a couple of months until i told him i was pregnant. he then constantly harrassed me to have an abortion,I said go to hell! ever since he's been hounding me any way he can get out of paying child support. he's already signed papers to give up his rights. hes never wanted anything to do with his daughter but he keeps threatening to sue for visitation rights if I dont hurry up and file the step-parent adopt papers. he rarely ever made any CS payments and I found out later from his other daughter that he may have phisically and sexually abused her.which he denies, but i dont want him any where near my daughter, which is what his other daughters advice was but i dont have enough money for the filing fee for the adopt papers which is $300. is there a time limit for filing the papers from the date of completion and notarization? please help, need info, sorry so long! Thankyou in advance, any advice welcome.

If this is important enough to you, you will find a way to come up with the $300.00 filing fee. Sorry to be so blunt, but that's simply the truth.

Have a yard sale and sell everything that you absolutley do not NEED. Go to your neighbors and offer to clean houses, or wash windows. You, or your husband can mow lawns, weed gardens, etc. One, or both of you can get a temp part time job, or if your area has a temp labor office get a few jobs with them. There are alot of ways to earn extra money, you just have to look at all possibilites.

Since the father is willing to allow the adoption you shouldn't put it off. Is there anyone you can borrow the money from and then pay them back?

Most likely the court won't care if the papers were signed 6 months or less before filing, but the longer you wait the more the court can question the filing. Worse, it gives your ex the opportunity to contest on the grounds of changing his mind.

If you are close enough to having the money, can you put off paying a bill until next month in order to be able to file sooner?
