    Default Citizenship With A Misdemeanor

    Hello all!
I have been reading pretty much all related topics/articles to try to find some help or something similar to my case. I could not find any. I'm about to file for the citizenship. I already have my GC through my wife in 2005 so im elegible for the citizenship. In 12/1997 i made the biggest mistake of my life; caught with a $10 wallet; store was in Costa Mesa, California. I was finger printed back at the police station; gave me a citation for court and they let me go; because it was my first offense and i did not have anything on my record.Because this was an embarrasement for me; i did not check with anybody and i showed up at court and plead guilty to the judge telling him how sorry i was. He gave me a $750 fine with payments arrangements and i don't quite remember if it was 6 months probation or 1yr.In 1998 i finished paying my fine and the case was closed. I told all these to the immigration officer who interviewed me for my GC and also she asked me for my court papers. Now that im applying for the citizenship will all these be different?. What should i do?. I will appreciate any help.

Since it was long time ago and your green card was approved even with the record, I don't think it would be considered as the crime of turpitude to affect on your citizenship approval. Still, in Citizenship application, you state that you have been arrested and include all the court documents that you paid all fines and successfully completed your probation.
    And hope for the best.
If you really concerned, consult with immigration attorney. 1 hour consultation is anywhere from $100 to $300 depends on the firm and attorney. But they will have better reliable answers to you. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply! i really appreciate it. I went to consult a Lawyer yesterday. She scared me even more now!. She told me that eventhough its been so long ,Immigration can deny the application and file my case for deportation. Oh boy!. She asked me to get my FBI and DOJ fingerprints so i did today; i will have to wait 10 days the get them. I don't know if she is really trying to scare me but she is doing a pretty good job. She is also telling me that currently is representing a client with the same problem as mine facing deportation. I'm going to have to get more help as second opinions; i will have to share all the end result with the forum hoping the info will be useful for others too
