    Default Texas Emancipation

Before my father died in 2005 he and my step-mom had custody of me. When he died I wanted to stay with my step-mom but my biological mom would not let me. My step-mom persued custody but the judge just didn't see how I would want to choose my step-mom over my bio mom. Well that is too long a story for this forum! At any rate, now I will be 17 this month and I still want to return to my step-mom (and my baby sister) to finish my senior year of school there. I want to petition for emancipation and I have been searching to find the forms - I know I file them with the district court clerk. Where do I get the petition (or packet) w/instructions : )? Does the social security benefits that I receive from my deceased father count as income?

Thanks for any pointers - please don't let this be a dead-end

    Read this.

You should check with your county's family court, as they may have form packages available. You can also check their website.
