Default Medical malpractice during a hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy a few months ago. According to my doctor, everything went well. I was discharged according to schedule. Six days after my discharge, I went to the ER because of severe stomach pains. I was admitted and was initially diagnosed with a partial bowel obstruction. Later it was determined that I had several abscesses in my abdomin and one in my pelvic area that were infected with the E.Coli bateria along with another bacteria. I was treated clinically for this problem because I was told surgery would be too delicate. I remained in the hospital for 17 days. Is this something I should look into for legal action?

    Default Possible Malpractice Claim

It is important to remember the following:

    * Complications in recovery can be, but are not always, the result of malpractice. It is possible for a doctor to do everything right, but to nonetheless suffer a complication or infection during recovery.

    * Michigan's laws are hostile to malpractice plaintiffs. Absent a very serious injury, it can sometimes be difficult to find a lawyer to prosecute a malpractice claim, due to the very high cost of malpractice litigation.

Unfortunately it is impossible to tell from your description alone whether you have a viable malpractice claim.

To determine if you have a viable claim, it is important that you have your case reviewed by a medical malpractice lawyer. That will often involve the review of your medical records by a legal nurse or other medical professional employed by the lawyer.
