I am wondering if there are any laws built into the California Coastal Commission (or elsewhere) that can help protect my views? I have checked the CCC page but find myself having trouble navigating all the info there.
Bought oceanfront property with house on 9 acres over 7 years ago. I have a path to the beach and wonderful views of a lighthouse from my front porch and yard. Two properties to the south of me were recently sold ( I have 9 acres, Dr. S. owns 11 acres adjacent to mine to the south and then the two adjoining parcels that just sold to the south of his....my property is only one with a house). I have heard the new owners (2 brothers from Texas) will be building houses.
Person who sold the 2 brothers these parcels recently contacted me and wanted me to grant an easement to the power and phone companies to run lines underground across my property. He had a form all ready for me to sign, have notarized and send to the county granting this easement...when I read it...he had 'slipped in' easement was also for water lines he could run and anything else his company needed it for and would go from himself to his heirs when he died. No mention of compensation was made by him. With this person in the mix, I am uneasy, as he has a reputation for not being the nicest guy in the area.
Any help I can get will be appreciated. Thank you, CA
