    Angry Charged for Leave Time Due to Employer's Slow Processing of Resignation

    I live in California, but my former employer (Federal) is in Virginia. They took 3 months to process my resignation. During those 3 months , they charged me for "leave without pay" and now I have a bill from them charging me for advanced annual leave. The worst part is I actually earned annual leave for 2 1/2months prior to resigning, but I never received credit or pay for it. Can they get away with this? How do I make a formal complaint?

    If you believe your former employer owes you wages, you can put in a complaint/claim with the state DOL where you worked or you can bring a lawsuit against the employer for payment of wages due.

    Is it your company's policy/practice to pay out annual earned leave at termination?
