Question Leaving Company Without Fulfilling Terms - Can I Still Get My Sign On Bonus

I recently got employed by a company in Houston. The contract states that i need to have my masters degree before I start BUT they let me start even though I did not have my degree. After I started they initially gave me my sign-on bonus but then subtracted it from my account. I was then instructed to accept a letter, not forcibly, that states I need to finish it by a certain date. That date came and went and I am still working on finishing my degree. They have now severed me from the company and I am about to finish my degree. I am on payroll for another 60 days and i should be finished with my degree within that timeframe.

What should I do? I believe that by hiring me the language they stipulated is now null and void

My question is whether or not I am still eligible to receive my sign-on bonus if I finish my degree before my termination date?
