    Default California Shoplifting

    I was caught shoplifting 260$
It was 3 juicy couture items.

    I'm in bitter regret.
The police came and told me this was a misdemeanor.
They cuffed me and dropped me off at my house.

    I recently turned 17.
    I'm a hard working student.
I'm also a permanent resident, will this affect my access to citizenship?

    What happens now?
    do I just pay?
do I have to do community work?

Will this affect the type of jobs I get?
Will this affect my chances of college?

    Default Re: CA, Shoplifting. Minor

You need to get a criminal defense attorney. If you haven't told your parents, do so, they will need to appear in court with you. Hopefully you are being charged in juvenile court and with great hope you can qualify for a diversion program.
Your parents will also get a letter for civil demand. This will need to be paid (usually a requirement of diversion) in order for you to go on with your life. Also, if they don't pay it, the amount will go up. (this demand will be THEIRS not yours as you are a minor) You will also need to never do this again.
