    Default Shoplifting In Texas

    State: texas Age: 28

    I got caught in a store for shoplifting an item worth $55.the store workers took me in back room, questioned me and called the cops who handcuffed me and took me to county jail, i spent 20 hours in jail and got out on $1000 bail bond. My case will go in court next month.and definately i don't wanna go to jail again...please help me..this is the first time something like that happened to me.what can i do right now???

    I have asked the state to provide me with a lawyer.Should i go and see him before the court date??

    i have learned my lesson,im much worried that what will happen to me in the court next month????

    Yes talk to your Attoreny and discuss your options. One option "might" be diversion. These programs vary and are not available everywhere. However most have you meet your requirements for conviction but once program is complete no conviction appears on your record

    i went to see the attoreny, he took some info about me and told me that you do not have to go in to the court next month, he will call in..and you will have to go in court in april or later...
    I do not understand what he is doing..should i go in court that day as judge told me or i shouldn't ?? Is he (my attoreny) telling me the right thing???

    Have you paid him? If you have not retained him how can he appear on your behalf? You should call him and ask him and ask what his fee is and his plans for you are.

    no, he didn't talked about fees or anything but noted down my address and number,he was saying you will end up on 6 months probation,
    is he planning to plea of guilty?? what exactly is this??

    Did you sign anything with this Attorney? If so you may already be screwed on fees or even plea bargain

    no, i didn't sign on anything at attorney's office.Should i consider changing my attorney??
