Default Marrying A Pilot - Right To Work In The United States

I have met a great woman while in flight school. She is from India. Now in the US, studying to be a pilot and we have fallen in love.

She would like to go home for a year to gain experience and than return for us to marry. The problem is that U.S. airlines WILL NOT hire people who do not have the right to work in the US. And they do not offer any type of sponsorship to work.

Here is the exact wording for many airlines "Must be a United States citizen or show proof of right to work in the US"

Therefore, if she and I marry, how long would it take for her to become a US citizen and be able to work without a company sponsorship? How long does it take for the US to grant her the right to work?

We are both very career orientated and have planned our lives around being a pilot (spent years training). So if she can't work as a pilot in the US it is a deal breaker for the both of us.

Please, any info would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

Anywhere from 6 - 12 months, though it depends on the wait time in your district UCIS office.
