You can expect:
. Fines less than $500.00
. Probation
. Community service
. Likely ban from victim (retailer)
Unrelated to court a Civil Demand request from a law Firm or Civil recovery service. This fine should be around $150.00
With this being a 1st offense you might talk to an Attorney and see if there are diversion programs in your area and if you qualify
How do you think this charge will affect my job opportunites?
WIll this be permanent on my criminal record? any ways to bypass it?
I'm hoping things don't get to bad over $2.99...
Was your record clean before this offense?
Yes.
I had a clean record before this. This is my first run-in with the law, which is why I'm hoping things don't get too bad...
If convicted yes you will have a criminal record which will likely impact your gettign hired at certain jobs. This is "exact" reason I suggested you seek an Attorney's advice and look into Diversion programs. Most diversion programs dismiss your case once you complete the terms of diversion program. Not all states or counties offer these programs amd it varies on how they work so talk to an Attorney
I agree with Panther.
