I was arrested for shoplifting ($12 pair of sunglasses) in Phoenix about 9 or 10 years ago when I was 19 or 20. I spent the night in jail and paid about $2000 when all was said and done. Since then, I've been working in bars/restaurants where criminal background checks are rarely done. I am trying to get a job in the corporate world and am hoping this will not prevent me from switching careers. I'm wondering if there is a way for me to get a copy of my record without paying for it . . . because there seems to be a $40 fee everywhere I've looked. I want to know what possible employers are seeing on my record . . . theft, petty theft, an old charge that was expunged . . .?? Any advice would be appreciated . . .
Thank you!
