    Question Changing Last Name

I am 18 years old and I am currently living in CA. I moved from MN about 6 months ago. I want to change my last name to my mother last name. Do I have to wait until I am a current residence of CA to be able to it? Would I be able to change it without my parents consent because I am only 18?

You're 18, legally an adult, and therefore do not need the consent of your parents to change your name.

I've not found residency requirements for a change of name. Forms are here, you can always inquire with the Clerk of Courts to see if there is a minimum residency requirement.
