Question Does Giving My Baby Father's Last Name On Birth Certificate Give Him Rights?

    hello,
I live in Washington state and am about to have a child with a man whom I am not married, he wants our baby to have his last name and I want to know if by giving her his last name does that give him any paternal rights if he is not listed as the father on the birth Certificate?
    thank you
    Due any day

No, it does not. It doesn't even establish legal paternity. A name is just a name. You can name the child Herbert Hoover if you really like the name.
