Default What Are The Benefits Of Claiming A Child

This is my first time filing my own tax return after divorce. So, I have no idea about claiming children.... I have one child, and I made about 6,000$ last year.
What kind of advantages are there if I claim my child?

If you are allowed to claim the child, you can use the earned income credit. Off the top of my head, $3,000 refund. But that's just a stab in the dark.

Yes. But don't get your hopes up. I dont have the exact numbers. But yeah, $3,000 is a good guesstimate

I would call it more around 2500.00. Of course, that is assuming that you are the one who has the right to claim the child.

I agree with the person who told you about the earned income credit. Hopefully you are the only person claiming your child and if your income was as low as you stated, please file for that earned income credit and any other child care credit you think you might be eligible for. In my experience, the lower the income, the more money you can apply for with all the different catagories, but be careful when doing your taxes yourself. Please research. I did my taxes online with www.freetaxusa.com and they were great. While going through the filing process questions are asked of you when you get to the part about the child care and earned income credit to make it easier on you. Check it out.
