Question Two Mothers On A Birth Certificate

Hello my name is Brandy and my partner's name is Lynda we are looking to have a child together we already have a donor who is willing to sign off all of his rights and let us raise the baby with out his interfernce. We are wondering if in Washington State both of us can be put on the birth cirtificate. Can some one please elaborate on this. And if not how we would go about putting a 50-50 gaurdianship up.

    Thank you,
    Brandy & Lynda

Default Re: Two Mothers On A Birth Certificate

    Hi Brandy,

Currently, only 9 states (California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont) and Washington DC are enlightened enough to explicitly allow second parent adoption.

Fifteen more have allowed such in certain counties - Washington is one of them - but not all counties in all of these states will permit both parents to be on the birth certificate.

    In what county are you?
