Default Canadian Citizen Wants To Marry US Green Card Holder

I am a Canadain citizen, My boyfriend lives in Florida, I visit him like 4 times a year, sometimes I stay for a month or 6 weeks,
This time I will be staying for 6months,ever time I visit its hard to go back home, he takes it very hard too,I have been engaged to him since 2003,He now think we should get married, we have since applied for consent, My problen is he is just a green card holder,if I get married to him will I be able to stay here with him, also whenever I am coming here I always say I am going to visit my brother and this makes my trip easy, due to the fact that I told them the truth once about him and they had me in a room taking down a lot of notes and doing paper work on me,which also cause me to missed my flight.
Could someone please give me some good advice on what the procedures on the immigration law is here due to the fact that in Canada its very different.
I still want to marry him, because I love him and we are good together, I am not seeking refuge status or trying to used the system to get a green card.

Immigration through a family member. If you marry he can apply for a Green Card for you, but you would get into a much higher preference category if he naturalizes first.

You need to be careful about lying at the border, as if they determine you to be making fraudulent representations to enter the U.S. they can turn you back and declare you ineligible to reenter.
