Not really as you did not purchase the items at lower price. However if you were seen expect to be watched very closely on your next visit

thanks I was getting worried because people obviously saw me getting the fabric cut.
It was really dumb as I didnt even think of removing the tag I put on there before putting it aside. I shouldnt have even thought about doing it... Ah well you live and learn and this stress and fear of them just banging down my door for such a small item that I didnt even purchase was driving me crazy.

okay I guess everyone agrees with no...
Im just so worried they will review some tapes and arrest me at my house or something...
not like their tapes are any good as I had an incident in walmart a few years back (someone illegially took a pictue up my skirt) and they said the tapes proved nothing.... so they couldnt arrest him there... but luckly he got caught the next day in TJ max and was arrested..... With 719 pictures of other people on his camera....
I doubt there is a number I can call to see if they are checking into it??

    OiOi...

    thanks everyone

If you call them and ask them if they are checking into it, you're pretty much asking to get caught.

My advice: Don't go there again and don't attempt it anywhere else.

I def. Will NOT EVER do it again.. It was my first time ever trying.. yes I thought about it.. but I never really got to the point of switching tags till then..

I am probably overreacting and they just bundled the fabric as remnants and didnt even notice the tag.

Look. Even though it could be argued that you had already switched the tag, it simply does not make sense, neither for the store, nor for the police, to get you arrested. If they call you, which they should not bother, don't admit to doing it, don't agree to visit them, etc. You know nothing and it's not you. Wrong number. Bye. Because it just does not make sense to waste resources for something that you did not even try to take out of the store. And if, suppose, they took the trouble to contact you which, again, I think they would not, they would give up very soon, and you don't have to be available to answer.

Imagine the police getting a call from the store. "What did she steal?", they would ask. "Nothing. She just switched some tags while in the store". They would probably tell them to get lost, although more politely.
