Default California Judgment Against A Nevada Resident

I had a judgment against me for $8,000.00 in attorney's fees in California back in 2000. I have lived in Nevada now for over 5 years and the other party is now claiming I owe him over $18,000.00. Does he have to domesticate the judgment in Nevada in order to collect? And, if so, is the statute of limitations based upon Nevada law or California law?

    Thank you,
    Lisa

You mean to pursue assets which fall under Nevada's jurisdiction, and cannot be reached by California's courts? Yes, they would have to pursue those assets through Nevada's courts.

Nevada's, unless California's limitations period is shorter.
Quote Quoting NRS 11.020 - Effect of laws of limitation of other states or countries.
When a cause of action has arisen in another state, or in a foreign country, and by the laws thereof an action thereon cannot there be maintained against a person by reason of the lapse of time, an action thereon shall not be maintained against him in this State, except in favor of a citizen thereof who has held the cause of action from the time it accrued.
