I had my house searched without a search warrant in Michigan. The officer told me if I told him where my marijuana was he would not search my house and they would leave. I told him and instead they arrest me and went in my room before the search warrant had gotten there. Does this matter? They say they could go into my room because I told them it was in there, but they lied to get me to admit it. Assuming that they will not throw out the case for illegal search what are my options? I sold an eighth of marijuana to a C.I. When they searched my house they found less than a pound of marijuana, 17 ecstasy pills and cocaine residue. It is my first criminal charges and I was wondering if there were chances of me not going to jail. Maybe 5 years of probation or some alternative? I am graduating college right before my case is settled, does this help my chances? Does the court/PA care at all about character or desire to change and progress? Will stressing that I am headed in a new direction, taking Intensive Out Patient counciling and attending NA meetings help me? what angle is the best to take in my case, I am lost here.
