Somewhat off the subject, but I live in Colorado and during custody hearings, my ex and her lawyer lied regularly and often about all sorts of things, e.g., financial information. Even when I presented proof to the court, there was never one single consequence for her perjury. I was told that the standards are lower in family courts because lying is so common there. It really disillusioned me because I was always honest and straightforward. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished.
It is really disgusting to see it go on. The judge we had before was very fair and he could tell what was going on which is why I got full custody in the first place. But this judge, there was no impartiality at all, she saw a grandma there and there was nothing I could have done short of shown a video of everyone snorting cocaine that would have swayed her. Even then she would have asked, do you still use drugs, and they would have said no, and she would have said ok then. Thats the way it went down the whole time.
