    18 years...

I could give you a better answer if you were more detailed in your information...

duped daddy, I'm not familiar enough with VA's laws to be able to answer your questions.

However, I noticed that you have started several threads on the same basic subject. It will help you get more accurate answers if you'll edit your posts and keep all questions in one thread.

Sorry- this is the 1st & only place I've posted things so I'm a newbie. OK here's the deal:

While separated from my wife (4/05 -12/05) I was partying and drinking way too much. Patched it up with the wife and things are fine at home now. about 8 weeks ago wife opened letter from child support agency to appear before court for child support and insurance. I do not remember sleeping with this girl. Shoot, I barely remember her at all! I had been to a few parties and she always seems to be there. I've had contact with her (or most of that partying bunch at all). This notice hit us out of the blue. We ( me & the wife) are willing to accept this child into our life IF I am the dad. Not a problem. I went to the DCSE office. they wouldn't give me any info about the mother. Only after explaining the whole situation to the intake officer, a summons was issued to her (that I paid for) since we disputed the child support without proving paternity. And the officer did finally tell me the child is a boy. I can't get any more info about mother or child. Well I called for the 3rd or 4th time in 6 weeks and finally got someing other than "these things take time". They told me she chose to drop the whole thing after being served the summons. If this summons was taken out by me, can she drop the whole issue (by that I mean the request for support and my request for dna testing)? The intake officer said it's a closed matter. They keep talking in circles with me.

Why this girl felt she had to go thru the courts...can't say...don't care. My wife and I would love to have a child in our life and sometimes things don't always come the way you expect it. But now, we still want it settled. It could be a friendly issue if I could just know how to reach her. I want the child's need put first. If the boy is mine...then I have to consider what is best for him. He deserves to know about this other family he has. We've looked on-line but without anything more than her name...it's all very vague. I'm about ready to take out an ad in the local paper. Feeling desparate and cheated that she has info about me but the systems won't give me anything in return. Is this normal??!!
