    Question Roach Infestation

My husband and I live in Florida in an apartment where we have a lease that runs through July 31.

In the past few months we have developed a roach infestation, that we believe has come from some unsavory neighbors who moved in during the fall.

We wake up in the morning to find the roaches crawling on the counters, in the drawers, ect. We are exquisetly clean people and cannot stand roaches.

Our lease states that the landlord will provide pest control. We have contacted them three times about this problem. The first two times they sent the pest control in to spray for roaches. They also advised that we place traps and set off roach bombs. On Decemeber 22, my husband set off roach bombs throughout our apartment. They seemed to vanish for a day or so before they came back(obviously they must have escaped to the neighbors for the duration and then came back when the smoke cleared).

When we contacted our landlord again, they suggested setting off several bombs in succession. This past weekend, January 18-20 we set off 3 sets of bombs over 3 days. We still have roaches when we get up in the morning. I kill at least 2 roaches every morning while preparing breakfast.

This morning I again contacted our landlord who said he will send the pest control to set off his roach bombs which are stronger than over the counter bombs.

However, my husband and I both feel that this will not solve the problem as it seems the roaches just retreat to safer quarters(one of the other apartments) and then return to ours. Additionally, we have to young dogs who eat the roaches who actually are killed by the poisons and then they become ill every time we set off roach bombs.

Is there any sort of recourse for us? Is there a way to get out of our lease? Or are we stuck in the roach motel for 5 more months?

It appears the Landlord is taking action. Talk to Landlord about your neighbors or any suspected source ask him/her if he/she is doing anything about source.
