    Default Shoplifting in NYC

I've recently been caught shoplifting less then $200 worth of history books. I am a student at a prestigious university, and am very worried about my future. I did not resist, and cooperated with authorities. however, i still went to prison for about 24 hours and stood before a judge. probably the worst experience of my life. I will go to court again, this time to try to get this blemish erased from my permanent record due to my first time arrest. My tempory lawyer said that I can plead under disorderly conduct and get a A__ (i don't remember the acroynm) and get this off my permenant record in 6 monthes. I really want my record sealed. Can someone kindly help me with advice? recommendations?

    Get a... deferment?

I don't have enough information to second-guess your lawyer. If your lawyer has proposed a resolution that will allow you to avoid having a criminal conviction, that sounds like a good outcome.

My tempory lawyer wanted to plead under disorderly conduct, and he said that the most likelything would be that I get a lot of community service but the record of my shoplifting would stay there. He told me to hire a lawyer to settle this in court in december to try to get the criminal record erased.

it was called an ACR or something.
