Hi. I was let go from my job in December due to a loss of a contract location.
I filed for unemployment and have already received several checks.
However with this last check came a letter notification and instuctions
for a scheduled telephone interview.
It talks about requesting more time for witnesses, information, and the advice of a representative.
The Interview says it will discuss : Your refusal of a referral to a job or an offer of work
I have not refused any work. The only thing I can think of is that this
is my former company trying to get out of unemployment. It's a little
complex.
My former company= Company A.
2nd company which is not the same as Company A=Company B
3rd outside sub-contracted HR department= Company C
Company A lost the contract at a certain location. Company A cannot
place every company member with a job b/c with the loss of said
location they only have 2 contracted locations left.
Company B does not provide the same hours, commute, pay and
is in a smoking environment.
Company C (who I do not work for and never got paid by) offer placement in Company B.
I put in written emails my problems with this placement and how I do
not consider it a transfer as they are 2 separate companies. After over
5 years of exemplary service they make no attempt to correct the situation. In fact, it seems they just put people in this awkward situation
to have them quit and sign waivers that they will not seek unemployment. I told them I wasn't quiting. Nov 28th (my last day of work) comes and Company A gives me my last checks. I contact EDD
that same day and as far as I knew I was considered eligible for these benefits.
Is this what I suspect it is? Should I seek out representation and request
a rescheduled telephone appointment? Or is this just SOP and I'm worked
up for no good reason?
