Angry Illegal Sale Of Cigarettes To Minor - Misdemeanor 4th Degree In Ohio

I am in ohio. I was charged with Illegal sale of cig to minor misdemeanor fourth degree in 2000. I never got anything in mail ( no summons nothing ) until last week when I got warrant block on my license. I went to court to find out and they told me this charge. I was in panic as i don't have any other criminal records nor traffic violations and am a potential immigrant so i got the next day as court date and plead 'no contest' and i was fined 60$ which i paid. Now the problem that's troubling me is it is a conviction and a criminal record which will come up in every background check right? I am an engineer and i don't work at stores. That time i was just helping a guy who worked at the store and i happen to ring the register and got caught in sting operation.

Is there any way out of this or would it cause majjor problems ? I hate that i ddin't wait to find a lawyer for this.

    please advice.

Ohio state re restrictions on employers asking applicants & employees about arrests & convictions.

Arrests - In any application for employment, a person may not be questioned with respect to any arrest or taking into custody for which the records were sealed. If an inquiry is made regarding sealed or expunged juvenile records, the person may respond as if the arrest or taking into custody did not occur, and the person shall not be subject to any adverse action because of the arrest or taking into custody or the response.

Convictions - In an application for employment a person may be questioned only with respect to convictions not sealed unless the question bears a direct and substantial relationship to the position for which the person is being considered.

Whether then criminal record will show up on a background check or not depends on how thorough of a background check the employer does.
