Default Do I Have To Give Back My Sign On Bonus

I went to work for a multinational in Dallas, TX. They gave me X dollars as a sign on bonus with the stipulation that I stay two years. I have been there 18 months but here is the rub...

The job they offered me did not exist when I showed up. I was basically told that the management team had decided to cut funding to the project that I hired on to be part of (about a month after I arrived but I can't believe it wasn't already in the works). I have a new offer and I am fine with paying them back a pro-rated amount but I chafe at the idea of paying them back in full. Especially since what they offered, they never delivered on. Do I have a leg to stand on if they decide to play hard ball?

Since we haven't read the agreement, we have no idea. Show whatever you signed to a lawyer in your state.
