Default I Think I Have To File For Bankruptcy

My husband and I have a business for sale, that may or may not sell.
If we cannot sell it, we will be forced to close it and file bankruptcy (I'm thinking)
I own a home, in which we both live, that was given solely to me in inheritance. We are 2 months behind in mortgage payments.
If we file bankruptcy will my house be in danger?
We have about $40,000 in insecured debt, and $150,000 secured debt.
I am currently also considering filing for social security disability because of health issues, and need to get some type of positive cash flow happening, because our business is distressed.
Can anyone give me some advice on things to consider here?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
    We live in California.

Start here. It takes the average person 2 1/2 years to be approved for disabiltiy....so apply now as this will take the most amount of time.

As far as bankruptcy, consult an attorney. Most give free consultations. They will have a better idea of your options. There are plenty of options out there to help you keep your house.

Thanks for responding- I do have a question about the social security- I am taking care of my sis-in-law while her appeal to see a judge for social security happens- and she has significant health problems-
I'm wondering after seeing what she's gone through if I should just get a free social security disability lawyer right off the bat- she's still waiting after almost 2 years and no end in sight for her- and it's hurting me too since I am subsidizing her.
This is so frustrating. It seems there are road blocks every way I turn.
I had applied for disability earlier in the year and they said I did'nt have quite enough credits yet ( I may now though)
