so last week my friend and i were at a grocery store to go get food in the deli. we paid for that and walked around the store just to waste time and my friend dropped a small can of long island iced tea (that ran about $2-3) in my purse and told me to quickly walk out of the store (we're both 18 and can't purchase alcohol). Not thinking, I did. Outside we were stopped by two undercover (i suppose they were) cops. My friend and I were seperated but i was not questioned, after the incident my friend told me he wasn't questioned either. They took us up to a room, tried to scare us by being hostile (my friend and i were acting very calm, surprisingly) and eventually paperwork was filled out and somewhat explained to us and we were let go and told not to come back to the store for a month.
Because I had posession of the drink, they put me down as a primary. I don't know what that means. Also, they asked how much money we had on us. We didn't have any paper money, only debit and credit cards and they told us "that doesn't count." Does the fact that we didn't have this money on us mean we'll get a bigger citation? Both of us are expecting a $250 citation fee, but I have a feeling that mine will be much larger because i was in posession of the item. Also, I just got hired for a new job at a government office and oddly (at least to me) they interviewed me before having me fill out the application (i still haven't). I know that ususally on applications you're only asked if you've commited a felony, however being that this is a government office, do you think they can dig up a citation? does a citation stay on your record? or does it go away when you pay it off (that's what my friend thinks...). One last thing, will the citation show up anywhere? I did not tell my mother and plan on not telling her due to the fact that i know i'd be cut off from everything for a very long time and i can't have that happen.
So yes, if anyone can help me out here seeing that i am clueless, it would be very appriciative. thanks.
