Default Full Time Hourly Employee Sent Home Early

I'm currently working in North Dakota. My work has me scheduled to work 2:00pm to 10:00pm Monday through Friday on an hourly wage(Full-Time). My work use to give a few people a day the option to go home early (which is not paid for), but recently they have been forcing people to go home and miss out on their 40 hours a week. Two days in a row I was forced to go home at 8:00pm when my schedule clearly states that I am suppose to work to 10:00pm. Is this legal? Can they force us to leave early?

Yes and yes. Unless you have a bona fide, legally binding contract that guarantees you will never have less than 40 hours a week, your employer may legally send you home early (without pay) if they do not have enough work for you. Or if they just feel like it.
