You'll need to either have the father's permission, or get a court order allowing the change without his permission. You'll need to prove that you have attempted to find the father, which can be difficult in a situation like yours where you moved without notifiying the father.

The best thing to do at this point is to get a consult with a local attorney, who can tell you what your reasonable options are.

BTW- please don't type in all caps, it is considered to be yelling, and makes your post difficult to read.

Thumbs up Re: How Do I Change My Daughters' Full Names In Georgia

Sorry about the all caps, when I moved, their was a restraining order against him, and the judge said he didn't need to know where we moved to. But I will get a lawyer. I was just wanting a little info before I got one to see if it was possible to change their whole names instead of just their last. And while searching the internet I ended up finding out that in the state of Georgia has to be 5 years to be considered abandonment. That sucks. But, as I said I will contact a lawyer and see if their is anything I can do. Does anyone know of a good lawyer that can handlle this? I live in a small town and options are limited, if anyone knows of a good one in or near Bainbridge, please let me know, I will keep searching. And their father always had my phone number, and my sister lived near him and they stayed in touch for a couple months, judge had ordered supervised visitation but he never showed.
