So my wife of only 2 weeks, went to a womans clinic for a condition. I was listed as a emergency contact. (her name smith / my name jones on the check-in form).
I find out much later that her medical insurance (that she'd had for years prior, and even before I knew her) declined to pay for the 300.00 visit claiming it was a pre-existing condition from years ago. We now have joint coverage I set up with a different carrier (under the business)
She received mail addressed to her (smith) in regards to this matter & I knew nothing about it really... I never opened her prior mail addressed to 'smith'.. Only those things we did jointly address to 'jones' (being married)
So the long story short is, time goes by, I'm still a little in the dark about that issue when I'm served papers for a circuit court filing that lists defendants (1) her and (2) me, way off to the side. (for $394.00)
Now I see they made a file on "MY" credit report...
Q. Can I fight back on this?...
I'd pay the bill on her behalf but beings they served 'me' papers and filed it on 'my' credit report I'd like to take the gloves off & do something about it... I don't care about the money, I only care that the item be removed from my credit report.
Thanks so much in advance.
