I was sentenced to 12 months of probation for credit card fraud. I have completed 6 months of the sentence with no issues; all court costs and fines have been paid. I have made each of my monthly payments for my supervision fee to date. My Order of Probation says that I have to pay a 12 month supervisory fee of $1560 ($130/mo x 12 months). My probation officer said that she would recommend me for early release, but I need to pay the remaining $730 of supervision costs. I asked why I would pay if I’m not being “supervised”. She said that it is a state law that the complete supervision costs need to be paid, not just those for the time served, in order to be released early. I can find no documentation to support that, nor can she provide me with any. Is this true? Would it benefit me to ask the sentencing judge about early release? Thanks.
