    Default Emancipation in Florida

I understand how a parent has to file for emancipation. I am trying to get my parents to do it. I'm 17. If I would just leave my house without getting emancipated, what could happen? I would move in with friends. I have a job and everything. If my parents would call the cops, what would happen? Can they do anything like taking me back to my house?

    Default Moving Out at 17

It's hard to say what could happen. Technically you would be a runaway, but if your parents chose not to involve the police or the police chose not to intervene (as some departments are apt to do with 17-year-olds who are soon going to be legally able to move out anyway) it might not make a difference. You may wish to inquire with your local police department (using the non-emergency number) to see if they have a formal policy.
