Default Shoplifting That Was Once Thought To Be Faded Away

    Hi,
I'm an international F-1 visa student in Michigan
I was once caught in department store where I was with my friend.
My friend got caught stealing a couple of shirts, and he got convicted of retail fraud 2nd degree, and now he's on probation.
I was charged with Aiding it in bet??(helping my friend steal stuff), and also retail fraud 3rd degree, because I stole a shirt from the other store of the department complex.
But prosecutors decided not to process the charges for the time being, and I have not heard anything from them since.
I heard that the shirt I stole it was AIX and they did not want to charge me. I guess prosecutors did not see any reasons to process me anymore.

However, this friend, my relationship got rough with him lately, and he told he will tell the probation officer and make them process my charges that I explained above.
Now, I have my bond receipt back, I do not know if police and prosecutors have my files anymore.

and I have to go back to my country within a month, and i am really nervous about this.

If my friend tells the probation officer and police and ask them to proceed with my charges because he thinks it is possible, he want to give me a hard time.

Is it likely that prosecutor then will call my appearance to the court and finish my conviction?

I'm scared to talk to police officer or prosecutor to check this

    Please give me advice!!

Your "friend" does not get to decide for DA what cases to prosecute

Do you mean that even if he tries to get me convicted of my charges, there are no ways to have police or prosecutor prosecute me again? I mean bring up the charges that were faded away?

Do I need to worry about him tryint to screw me up?

The DA has until the statute of limitations runs out to file charges. Unless your friend has "new" evidence its not likely he will change the DA's mind on this. What your "friend" wants matters not!

    Thanks for reply!
    He has real crooked mind!

    Now, there's another story.
this friend's house, I was chilling about a year ago, he asked to put away his old speaker in his house, so I put it in a boiler room and did not tell him.
Couple months later, he told me that the apartment was at his house to fix his boiler and when they saw the speaker(bass woofer) by the boiler, it could blow up, and the apartment's landlord got mad and told my friend they would sue. This is all true I think. but besides that, he lied to me and extorted 7,000 dollars from me saying that after he told landlord it was my fault putting the speaker in boiler room, landlord decided to charge me, and that it would be real big crime, attempted arsony and it could cause damages to other people in complex. He told me with that money he can ask the landlord settle it. But I recently found out this was all lie, and I made him admit it. Now, If he ever tries to get me conviceted of my previous retail fraud charges, I should charge him with extortion. This is WHAT he said. he told lets pay for our mistakes and let all this open. I will get conviction from retail fraud, and he will get conviction of extortion, hes not afraid of it, he said. He said he has his reason to extort me and it wasn't an extortion at all. He said hewill get his own lawyer and me get my own lawyer and told me to prepare for it.

Also he told me that he will tell police in home contury that I smoked marijuana in America and have them hair test me, he says hes got evidence of picture. and my country does give people trial who smoked even though it did not happen in the home country.

    He's basically trying suicidal bomb.

WHat would happen if I try to sue him of extortion?
WOuld I have to get a lawyer?
and Hes in currently on probation, so would he get jail term if he admits the extortion in the end?

What would happen to me? would the INterPOL COME to me in michigan and test me or kick me out of country?

Oh actually I did smoke about 2 months ago, I believe it would show positive for hair test but not urine test

and for just smoking marijuana in mycountry is fine up to 50,000 or up to 5 years of jail term

The only way you will be charged with Retail Fraud is if the store you stole from decided to press charges.

You were told that they were not pressing any charges so what areyou so worried about?

Let me see if I have this right; Your friend asks you to place a subwoofer near or next to the building's boiler, some time goes by, then the landlord allegedly finds it and allegedly claims to your friend that it's an arson/explosion hazard, you believe him and pay him $7000 to keep you out of an "arsony" charge?

    Does that about summarize things?

One more question, without saying when, how many months ago was the shoplifting thing?

P.S. Stay away from the reefer!!! There's a reason it's called DOPE!

Your "friend" sounds like a real winner! First off, if superdave has it right, you need to stay away from him until you can get to your home country. If he got $7000 and is anywhere as shady as he sounds I doubt he'd make a call back to your county to turn you in. If he does well, you knew the fines/punishment of your country when you made the decision to smoke it.

Was there a fire/explosion from the sub woofer? The landlord can't charge you with anything, only the DA can so it sounds like they yes indeed ripped you off.
