California Statue of Limitation

My grandson was charged 2 years ago with embezzlement in the State of California (by the county court) and was sentenced to 9 months in jail, but decided to leave the state for an attractive job offer. Is there a statue of limitation that this charge would be dropped (or similar) after a certain time (like 10 years or so)?

No. If he flees the jurisdiction before serving his sentence a warrant will issue for his arrest and it will remain active until such time as it is served or withdrawn by the issuing agency.

He will have to remain looking over his shoulder until he does his time. Additionally, neighboring states may suspend his driving privelege in that state if there is an active warrant from CA ... and, he will be ineligible for many types of loans and government assistance so long as the warrant remains.

Its also likely that his new employers will be notified of his fugitive status as well. They may not appreciate having a wanted criminal in their employ.

If your grandson wants to be an adult, he needs to own up to his responsibilities and do his time.
