Default Job Interview With A Pending Charge

I got caught shoplifting, have a court date in a couple weeks and haven't been convicted yet. Charges are pending. This incident happened a couple weeks ago in the state of Washington.

I have an interview for a part time job at Jamba Juice and want to know if anything will show up if the employer does a regular background check? any guesses? I don't know what the scope of the record check will be and I have a clean record before this.

    thanks.

Also, I haven't been convicted yet, so how do I answer to the question on job applications when they ask, "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?"

If you have not yet been convicted then you are not lieing if you put no. However keep in mind if your employer finds out later and realizes you knew of this pending conviction you could be terminated

Post Re: Job Interview With A Pending Charge

Our Executive committee wants to change our employment application to reflect the following:

Have you ever been convicted or plead guilty to a crime other than a traffic violation within the last ten years?

Do you have any criminal charges pending?

I know that we can ask if one's ever benn convicted but can we ask if they've plead guilty and whether or not they have any charges pending?

hrlaw - would you please start your own new thread - you added to another poster's thread. It gets confusing that way. Thanks.
