The person stating that the faulty information is the result of the courthouse error. Incorrect. The data flow originates from the courts, and there are SEVERAL companies out there - whether reputable or not - who maintain their own databases based on this information. We don't know how often they update it or how it's regulated. It's BS in my opinion. This doesn't happen in the credit industry. We have Experian, Transunion, etc. and some secondary agencies. There are challenge procedures, and these organizations are extremely regulated. Now if I want to go out tomorrow and purchase a website url called checkyourcrimhistoryonmejerk.com, and I get employers to sign up, I can go collect public records info from courthouses and then never update it... but still provide my customers (employers) the same data.... and not get in trouble for it.......... and ruin people's lives like your's... My personal opinion is that background checks will eventually be highly regulated, and more so on a federal level vs. state, and that there will be some laws regarding discrimination written in (I feel you have been discriminated against and also fired without just cause)... but that won't happen for another five years... anyway just ranting, good luck
