Default False Anti-Shoplifting Alarm At Walmart

On a few occasions the alarm had went off after leaving the store with my purchases, however there was nobody ever around to stop me so therefore i left...i have never stolen anything and thought it would be a good idea to bring a recorder along with me shopping..so with that being said i would have evidence of what happened today, so heres how it went...

I entered the store with my new jacket and not knowing it was me the alarm had gone off, nobody had stopped me or anything so I looked around for what i was looking for and never found it, so I proceeded to leave the store and the alarm went off again, I was in a hurry at the time and when I was about 10 feet or so from the door the lady stopped me and requested that I go back through the door, I explained I am in a hurry and she still said so or she would get security, I went in and they called and had a hard time reaching whever they wanted, during that time they passed my jacket over the magnetic device at the cash and when the person arrived they said they could not search the jacket and that was the end of that, I however requested the manager to come up with a solution to this problem... I was kept back for about 5 to 7 minutes until they said I could leave.

Would anyone know if this would be a decent case to get any compensation from walmart, i mean this happens to many people every single day and they seem to get away with it...

I reside in Canada but i would imagine the laws would be very similiar in all places, Any help would be appreciated.

You want to sue walmart because your jacket beeps?

    Um... no.

Not everything that happens to you is worthy of compensation.

There's a reason your jacket is beeping - check it carefully for anti-theft tags which may not have been removed when you purchased it.

Sounds like you went in looking for trouble (recorder) and it was always your intent to find a means to get monies from Walmart
