    Default Shared Electric Meter

Not sure where this question should go, hope this is the right place

I own a property with a family member. There is 1 electrical meter that is supposed to be for my house. Electric was run to the family members house without a permit or anything "temporary". They were supposed to get thier own meter set but never did... We had a huge falling out and they had the account put into thier name and blocked me from being able to find out anything about the account... They did this just to harass me!!!

Now they are trying to sue me for a past due electric bill... Do they have grounds here..?.. I cant even see what the bill is. And I have a restraining order so I can not speak to him

They should not have been allowed to exclude me from the account but the electric co. does not want to get involved and I don't blame them.

You're being sued in small claims court? The judge will presumably want to see the bills.

I think his claim is pretty tenuous, given that he voluntarily put the bill into his own name without your consent (and apparently knowing that you would object), and you apparently never agreed to split the bill.

Default Re: Shared Electric Meter - What the Judge Ruled

    There was no agreement
the bill was put into his name without even asking me if I wanted in on it... BUT

The judge ordered me to pay. Her rule was "you should not have expected free electric"
