Default Store Procedures After Catching Shoplifters

Last week I was caught shoplifting, I am 21...I was walking out the door when the LP came up to me and asked me to come inside. I stole 99$ worth of perfume and makeup, I cooperated with them and asked if I could just pay and I have never done anything like this before. They said no and they were going to call the cops for me to be arrested and fingerprinted. They took a bunch of info from me and made me sign two papers...one they said was about me never coming back to the store and another was about the items I took. They also took a picture of me and made copies of the paperwork and my liscence to give to the police when they came. When the police came they saw what I did and the officer asked to seemy license to run. I told him I had a clean record and I asked if he was going to handcuff me, he said no he would just walk me to my car. While he stepped out of the room to run my license the LP walked out with him. When the officer came back into the room the LP gave me a piece of paper saying I will get a fine in the mail from the store. When the police walked me to my car he ran my plates, I asked him why he did not take me to get fingerprinted and he said he would wait till after court. I am so stupid for doing this and now I can't sleep or eat because it is driving me insane waiting for these things to come in the mail. I have a few questions for you that I hope you can answer?

What does the store do with the picture they took of me?

Do they send it to other stores?

Since I was so upset and nervous I did not actually read the papers I signed, I just trusted the LP's words...what exactly did I sign?

Since I signed a paper of the items I admitted to taking, can they go back and look at the video and charge me for additional things?

What are my chances of just paying a big fine and getting the charges dropped, I am finishing college these year and I am going to be a teacher.

What are some things I can do to possibly get the charges dropped?

I need any advice I can get, this has never happened to me before. My family isn't talking to me and I constantly have a empty whole in my stomach. Please let me know what you think! I am willing to pay double the amount, do double community service, and even do a volunteer program with children if it is available.

If you wish to explore ways you may be able to avoid a conviction, your best bet is to consult a local criminal defense lawyer.

I can't speak for any particular store, but I am not aware of any which would distribute your picture. That's normally for internal use, or possibly for provision to the police to confirm your identity as part of the prosecution.

If Kohl's is part of a shared database with other retailers its likely your image could be seen by other retailers
